If you are staying at Riverside House holiday cottage, don't miss out on the foodie delights of Tideswell. This town is growing in popularity and can now boast a wide range of cafes, delis, pubs and restaurants.
Here's a pick of our favourites and all of them can be found on our Out and About pages:
The Red Lion pub (although in Litton it is only a couple of minutes by car from Tideswell) is a lovely traditional Peak District pub with small cosy rooms and log fires. Real ale, good wine and freshly cooked food in generous portions, and dogs are allowed in the front bar. In the summer it is lovely to sit on the pub benches on the green and watch the world go by.
High Nelly's in Tideswell, is a modern, spacious cafe serving excellent food for breakfast or lunch, some of the best coffee we have had and with excellent service. We had Derbyshire oatcakes with bacon and free range eggs, all locally sourced and delicious.
Vanilla Kitchen is another cafe that we know well and would recommend either for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Try the home made pies or cakes and there is a courtyard area which is ideal for walkers. The cafe is dog friendly too.
There are several choices of pubs in Tideswell, including the Horse and Jockey, The George, The Star and on the outskirts of town The Anchor. We would recommend all of them for good pub grub and we are hearing good things about the landlord's home made pies at The Anchor.
There's a new restaurant in Tideswell called The Merchant's Yard, which serves breakfast, lunches, a la carte in the evening and even cocktails. Craft beers, good wines and Sunday roasts also on the menu. There is a large room that can be privately hired and this would be ideal for guests of Riverside House to celebrate a special occasion.
And if you are looking to self cater at the holiday cottage, Tideswell boasts a butcher with locally sourced meat, a greengrocers (even open Sunday mornings), a deli with home made bread and far more (Tindalls of Tideswell) and The Peak District Parlour (a cafe and deli) with lovely local cheeses.
If you just want a good old fish and chip Friday night there are two chip shops in Tideswell, Corner Chippy and Elliott's Fish and Chips.
So in Tideswell you will be spoilt for choice for places to eat out, so why not take a look at this lovely Peak District town today!
