Don't miss this exhibition it is set to be one of the best this year. Running through until October it will highlight the fashion legacy of Chatsworth House and the Devonshire family.
The show is created by the Editor-in-Large at American Vogue, Hamish Bowles. It will bring to life the style and individuality of well known icons such as: Bess of Hardwick, incredibly important in the sixteenth century; Georgina Duchess of Devonshire an eighteenth century empress of fashion; Adele Astaire, sister and dance partner of Fred Astaire and Deborah Devonshire and Nancy Mitford, two of the Mitford sisters.
The exhibition will include art history, fashion, jewellery (including a fascinating exhibition of Dowager Duchess' bug jewellery), design and textiles.
Around 150 mannequins will be on show, as well as hundreds of objects organised into themes ranging from Coronation Dress to the 1897 Devonshire House Ball celebrating Queen Victoria's Damond Jubilee. Other highlights include Jean-Philippe Worth and Christian Dior couture as well as modern pieces. (A 1990s nose ring belonging to Stella Tennant)!
