With so much to see and do in the Peak District you might find it useful to know where the Visitor Centres are.  They can help you find the best ways to find the activities you want, on your budget, and within your preferences.

Bakewell. The centre is a joint venture between the Peak District National Park Authority and Derbyshire Dales District Council and is located in the atmospheric 17th century Old Market Hall.

·         Castleton. The main centre for exploring the Hope Valley. Located in the village of Castleton, the centre also houses the Castleton Village Museum, home of many local treasures, some dating from prehistoric times.

·         The Moorland Centre. The Moorland Centre’s design and interactive exhibitions reflect its setting. It has a living roof of sedum turf, intersected by a waterfall tumbling over glass panels into a pool at the entrance.

·         Upper Derwent. Situated in the middle of the Howden, Derwent and Ladybower Reservoirs complex, the centre is just 500 metres from the Derwent Dam and acts as a focus for the two million walkers, cyclists and tourists that make the journey into this beautiful valley each year.

Visit Peaks holiday cottages are owned and managed by Wendy Boast who runs two large holiday cottages in the Peak District and has been doing this since 2006, when Riverside House was opened.Wendy and her family have been going to the Peak District for 30 years and have detailed knowledge of the area and things to do.  She loves providing families and groups with holidays in some of the country's most beautiful countryside and can help tailor make a family holiday, activity holiday or leisure break.  Wendy stays in both her cottages on a regular basis with friends and family to make sure that everything is in place for a welcoming break in the Peak District. In another life Wendy was employed in the marketing departments of solicitors' firms as well as working in publishing and bookselling.
