Peak District drinking and dining

There are plenty of places to eat and enjoy a drink in the Peak District; these are some of our favourites .....

  • For dog lovers - The Red Lion at Litton is simply a fantastic traditional pub with real ale, real food and a real fire.  Dogs can sit and relax in the front area of the pub after a great walk in the country.
  • For foodies a visit to The Chatsworth Farm shop is a must to stock up on some fine quality meat and game, deli items, vegetables, cheeses and drinks to take home for an indulgent self catered meal at the holiday cottages.
  • For tea a visit to the Old Coach House tea rooms in Tissington is a must - there's lots of lovely cakes, scones as well as lunch options. Why not explore the delightful village of Tissington with its' green, local shops and duck pond while there?
  • For an evening drink at a pub there are so many options, but the Stable Bar at Monsal Head is one of our favourites, as well as the Red Lion mentioned above or the Church Inn at Chelmorton.  Far too many to mention!
  • For a night out try Felicini a lovely Italian restaurant in Bakewell even with its' own log burner in the centre of the restaurant.  The pizzas are gorgeous as is the anti pasti and wine!

All of the recommendations are based on our local knowledge and are tried and tested by us - no hardship! All can be easily accessed from either of our holiday cottages, Riverside House or Valley View. The Red Lion is closer to Riverside House, but worth a trip if you want to find a 'real' pub in the heart of the Peak District.
