Dog Friendly Pubs
This has got to be our favourite pub in the Peak district! Great home cooked food, fabulous steak and kidney pie, lamb shank, home-made chips, choice of two roast dinners all day on Sunday, daily specials. We love the beer here too, and the landlady is very welcoming. Try to get here early at weekends and in holiday times as it can get busy and you might be disappointed. In good weather you can sit out at bar tables on the green and enjoy the watching the world go by! You can walk from Riverside House our holiday accommodation in Litton Mill along Tideswell Dale or up the steeper Litton Slack. Both walks should take no more than 45 minutes or less depending on fitness. Dogs are allowed in the front bar area only and they must be well behaved and kept on a lead. This area is quite small and bookings are advised.

The Stable Bar allows dogs in all areas as long as they are on a lead and well behaved. The food is well priced and seasonal and there are real ales from local micro breweries. In addition there is a large outdoor seating area and perhaps best of all a great vantage point to view the Monsal viaduct and the valley. It is one of the most popular beauty spots in the Peak District. You can go on a number of walks from the Monsal Head Hotel and if you are staying at Riverside House, our holiday cottage in Litton Mill you can walk or cycle from the cottage to the Monsal Head Hotel along the Monsal Trail. Please note the last bit is steep as you leave the Trail to climb up to the Hotel. The Monsal Head Restaurant does not accept dogs, but it is a completely separate building to the Stable Bar.

Recently modernised and situated just of the Tissington Trail for traffic free dog walks. Dogs allowed anywhere in the pub and it's worth a visit for a modernist yet cosy feel with sheepskins on some chairs, candles, log fires and industrial beams. Highly recommend the burgers, craft beers and probably one of the best cappuccinos we've ever had. Bookings are not taken so make sure you arrive in plenty of time for larger groups.
Situated just 10 mins walk off the traffic free Monsal Trail, this pub is ideal to visit from Riverside House holiday cottage (allow one and a half hours each way). It is Derbyshire Life pub of the year for 2016. There's a very pleasant interior, and is set out well to accommodate diners with welcoming, pleasant staff. Good food and beer and dogs welcome in the tap room.
While visiting Great Longstone we also recommend The Crispin pub, which has good beer and pub food and well behaved dogs are welcome.
A characterful coaching inn well positioned near the Manifold Trail for great traffic free dog walks. Great pub food and beer and plenty of space for groups. Dogs are welcome in the front area of the pub. If you decide to walk from Valley View holiday cottage it is about one and a half to two hours walk each way, so leave plenty of time. Tired dogs guaranteed!
